Social Studies and Election 2008
Applicant: Darcy Scholz, SSES Teacher
Target Population: All 150 SSES 4th Grade Students
Content Area of Project: Social Studies
Amount of Grant: $1,000 in 2008
Mrs. Scholz purchased sets of the booklet called Election 2008 – America’s Presidential Election. These were consumable books which brought great understanding of our government and the election process. Mrs. Scholz also purchased a set of 12 non-fiction books that support the election unit, and 6 books for the learning center. These books allow students to engage, work in learning centers, do hands-on activities and learn a lot about US government and the election. Since 2008 was an historical election, Mrs. Scholz wanted new materials that would enhance learning and take the experience to a higher level of thinking.
“The grant I received from ELF helped me to teach to a greater extent…
