ELF provided funds to allow these teachers to pilot a “mini-economy” in their classrooms to give students the opportunity to interactively learn about the real world economy. Students earned paychecks at different jobs, paid rent and taxes, and created, designed and ran their own business. They were able to buy items in the classroom at a “store” with the money they earned.
