SSES Student Senate Fieldtrip
Applicants: SSES Student Government
Target Population: SSES Student Senators
Content Area of Project: Social Studies
Amount of Grant:
| 2011 | $445.00 |
The twelve member senate run every Wednesday morning by Mr.
Clark and Mrs. Menegay has proven to parallel the Senate because
of the appropriate discourse, Roberts Rules, and demanding
curriculum which these students utilize during meetings. The
students raise concerns about social issues and how SSES can
incorporate solutions in our schools to make a difference. The
students faithfully meet every Wednesday morning to discuss
new ideas to solve internal school problems such as bullying,
poor bus behavior, cafeteria respect. The student senate also
celebrates the integrity certain classes have shown and showcase
them as school role models.
This grant funded a group of student leaders to go to the Capitol
in Hartford, CT and present to the state legislature their book on
the topic of bullying. They were able to meet with Senator
McKinney and Governor Malloy!
