The Columbia Reading Institute is a weeklong summer conference to study the theoretical framework for teaching reading and writing in grades 1 and 2 and learn strategies for enhancing students’ independence and skills as readers. As a unified team, first and second grade teachers have become passionate about improving students’ reading experience through their implementation of the Reading Workshop model.
